Our Commitment to Transparency

Care Bridge uses artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to support physicians and improve the efficiency of our services. We believe you deserve to understand exactly how AI is used in your care. This disclosure explains what AI does, what it does not do, and how physician oversight ensures the quality and safety of every output.

What AI Does

AI assists with the following administrative and communication tasks:

• Real-time bilingual translation during video consultations between you and your physician
• Optical character recognition (OCR) of uploaded medical documents, making handwritten or scanned records searchable and reviewable
• Organization and summarization of medical records to help physicians review your case more efficiently
• Preliminary draft generation of consultation notes and report sections, saving physician time on administrative documentation
• Bilingual formatting of final reports in both English and your preferred language

What AI Does Not Do

AI does not and will never:

• Make medical diagnoses or clinical assessments
• Recommend or suggest specific treatments, medications, or procedures to patients
• Replace the clinical judgment of your assigned physician
• Generate content that reaches you without physician review and signature
• Access your data for purposes other than the specific service being provided

Physician Review and Oversight

Every AI-generated output follows a mandatory review lifecycle before it can reach you:

• Draft: AI generates a preliminary version based on your medical records and consultation
• Pending Review: The draft is submitted to your assigned physician for review
• Reviewed: The physician reads and evaluates the AI-generated content
• Edited: The physician modifies, corrects, or rewrites content as needed (this step may repeat multiple times)
• Signed: The physician approves and signs the final version, authorizing its release to you

Physician Authority to Reject

At any point in the review process, your physician can reject an AI-generated draft entirely and create their own content from scratch. The physician's clinical judgment always takes precedence over AI output. A rejected draft is never shown to the patient.

AI Service Providers

We use AI services from established providers who have entered into Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with Care Bridge, ensuring HIPAA-compliant handling of any data processed by these services. Our AI providers are selected based on their security practices, reliability, and compliance capabilities.

All data sent to AI services is encrypted in transit, processed only for the specific task requested, and subject to the same privacy protections described in our Privacy Policy.

Your Right to Understand

You have the right to ask questions about how AI was used in your specific case. Your physician can explain what portions of your report were AI-assisted and what modifications they made during their review. If you have concerns about AI involvement in your care, please contact our support team or discuss with your assigned physician during your consultation.
